The Honeywood Minor Hockey Association(HMHA)
Ice skating and hockey have been an important part of the Honeywood community for many years.
Back in the year 1912, Thomas Crawford built Honeywood's first community skating rink. The year 1949 saw the construction of Honeywood's first offical arena, and the formation of Honeywood's first hockey team.
The Honeywood Minor Hockey Association has been an important part of the Honeywood community for many years. The HMHA offers Mite level (5yrs and under) through Juvenile level (18-20yrs) ice hockey to the residents of Mulmur, Melancthon and surrounding townships.
Honeywood is a small center that typically has smaller teams. This has the advantage of giving players more ice time during games. Honeywood is also one of the few centers in the area that offers all-girl teams.

Parent Participation
Parent participation is an essential part of Honeywood Minor Hockey.
Each family is required to "work" off points during the year. The number of points required to work off depends on the number of children you have registered in HMHA.
Points can be earned in a variety of ways. If you sell 50/50, work the time clock, fill in the game sheet, you will work off one point per job. Coaches, trainers managers and executive members have their first 15 points taken care of for volunteering. Tournaments are a great way to work off several points in one day.
Many helping hands are always needed to make HMHA a success. Parents who do not work off their points by April will be at risk of having their bond cheque cashed. Team managers will keep track of points during the season.
Honeywood Time Machine
Dust off those old team photos and bring them in! The Honeywood web site is looking to create an archive of team photos.
Team photos from from the 2007/2008 season and earlier are needed.
You can bring in your photos to the arena at your convenience and I will scan them there. Scanning only takes a minute or two and the photos will be returned immediately.
Please contact Ken at khalis@honeywoodhockey.com if you can make a contribution.
The Story of how a Community Came Together
"If anyone needed an illustration of hard work, co-operation and true unselfishness in a community, I believe the North Dufferin Community Arena project would be a prime example. From conception to completion, it has been just that."
CLAUDE DOLSON Chairman of the finance committee 1966
